The Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society recently awarded Team Mongo their distinguished President's
Award for their charitable passion and being excellent ambassadors
of the Team In Training program and mission. The award
was presented at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2006
Volunteer Recognition Dinner.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest
voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood
cancer research, education and patient services. Founded
in 1949, the Society is relentless in pursuit of its mission:
to cure leukemia, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve
the quality of life for patients and their families.
Team Mongo's mission is to promote health and fitness while
fundraising for charitable causes such as The Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society. Over the past year, the team supported the
Society through fundraising and training assistance related
to several Team In Training events including the Philadelphia
Triathlon, Gulf Coast Triathlon, and St. Anthony's Triathlon. In
addition, Team Mongo recently hosted 12 Hours of Mongo Spin
Madness, raising over $22,000.
Receiving the award on behalf of Team Mongo
were team members Nichole Derrick and Peter Ludwig.
