Boys and Girls Club Benefits Big!

Sunday, July 29, 2007 was a great day for the Boys and Girls Club of South Oakland County.   Through Team Mongo's fundraising efforts related to the 3rd Annual Ride For The Kids and Ironman USA Lake Placid, over $7,000 was collected in ride entries, raffles tickets, and support donations.   The funds raised will go to very needy causes including programs for leadership and character building, the arts, health and life skills, and fitness and recreation.

The Ride For The Kids event was once again a success, with over 120 riders, young and old, turning up to ride the 10-mile loop in Royal Oak.   The ride was followed by lunch provided by BD's Mongolian Grill, and a raffle, which included three bicycles donated by American Cycle and Fitness, and many other fantastic items.   Look for the 4th annual event next year to be even bigger.   Click for ride photos.

The Ironman USA Lake Placid fundraising effort was also a success.   Peter Ludwig of Team Mongo extends his appreciation on behalf of the Boys and Girls Club for all those who made donations in support of his first Ironman event.   It was a tough a day out on the course, but knowing his effort was supporting the kids made every minute worthwhile.

Brett Tillander, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club, was elated over the fundraising from these events.   "The passion that the members of Team Mongo have demonstrated over the last three years is inspiring.   The lives of our Club members they touched will forever be changed for the good.   We are so fortunate to have such strong support from such outstanding people." said Brett.

Team Mongo would also like to thank all those who attended the ride or made donations, and to those who donated raffle prizes, including team sponsors.   We hope to see you again at a future fundraising event.
